In July of 2017 I stumbled across a VIPKID advertisement in my newsfeed on Facebook. It caught my attention. "Teach English online to students ages 5-12. Teach just 1 hour a day and make between $420 - $650 each month. Set your own schedule of when you want to teach." I thought to myself, why not? So, I filled out the online application. Little did I know how much my life was about to change, and for the better.
I feel in love with teaching from the comfort of my home and making money. The job has helped my family enjoy more vacations and has given us more financial freedom.
Most students are in China which is 13 hours ahead of the Central Time Zone. I start teaching early in the morning which is their evening. It is a great way to start my day. I turn on my camera and am greeted by children who inspire me. I basically get a free passport everyday without even leaving my home. My students have taught me so much about their culture. I feel so lucky to have this opportunity every day.
VIPKID is expanding to other countries. They have established nine overseas offices including Hong Kong, South Korea, and Malaysia. VIPKID had 500,000 students as of August of 2018. To read more about VIPKID's expansion, click here. To learn about the expansion of their curricula, click here.
